  1. This PGP version 2.3a for the Archimedes (release 1.18b) by Chris Gransden 
  2. with assembler routines by Paul L. Allen. PGP is a public-key encryption 
  3. system using an RSA/IDEA hybrid encryption scheme together with the MD5 
  4. message digest algorithm for digital signatures.

  6. Thanks to the efforts of Paul L. Allen this version encrypts/decrypts
  7. significantly faster than previous versions. Most of the relevant routines
  8. have now been coded in assembler.

  24. This is a command-line application - you should copy the PGP executable in
  25. the library directory to your own library directory, or some other convenient
  26. directory on Run$Path.  The !PGP directory should be `seen' by the filer
  27. to set the PGPPATH variable, so that PGP can find your keyrings and the
  28. help and language files.  Your first step should be to *read the
  29. documentation*, your second step should be to generate a secret/public key
  30. pair for yourself.

  32. Should you want to verify my signature in pgpsig/asc against the
  33. executable, pgp, then you will need my public key which is reproduced
  34. below.  Use "pgp pgpsig/asc" and when it asks for the text file to check,
  35. enter "pgp". If you feel unable to trust this public key or you have a
  36. paranoid and/or supicious nature you will want the source. It is hoped 
  37. that sometime in the near future the Archimedes customisations will be 
  38. included in the official source distribution.
